M-F / 8-5, must be able to work afterhours / weekends as needed
Work locations vary in a 7 county area
Job Duties:

1. Serves as a member of the mobile crisis response team and takes on-call duties as assigned.
2. Provides face-to-face assessment within 2 hours of initial contact as assigned/ appropriate to individuals determined to be in “crisis”. Shares information in terms that individuals and families can understand through various formal and informal settings.
3. Provides follow-up services to individuals identified through M-CeRT to provide support, assist with accessing the appropriate level of services, and ensure a warm-handoff to needed services/supports.
4. Assists individuals by modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on prior experience, supporting individuals in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services, and helping them to monitor their progress.
5. Provides one-on-one, family support, and group meetings to develop problem solving and coping techniques, empowerment and self-advocacy skills, and identification of natural/community support systems.
6. Participates in agency MAP teams when indicated.
7. Maintains client confidentiality at all times.

Documentation and Quality Improvement:

8. Documents appropriate activities in case note format and documents relevant events within specified timelines.
9. Maintains case record documentation that is adequate, appropriate, complete, and timely.
10. Assists with the development of the Individual Service Plan, Crisis Support Plan, and/or Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) when indicated.
11. Completes and submit service logs/documentation per agency policy.

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:

12. Attends and participates in treatment team meetings when indicated to assist with the warm-handoff and accessing services.
13. Meets with local community agencies to market program and how to access services.
14. Shares their unique insight into mental illness with non-consumer staff and what makes recovery possible.
15. Serves as a role model and emphasize the value of each individual’s recovery experience.
16. Responds to consumers’ needs in an appropriate and timely manner.
17. Demonstrates appropriate interactions with coworkers that promote a pleasant work environment.

Support Duties:

18. Completes additional job duties as assigned by supervisor.
19. Participates in interagency collaboration for the provision of services.
20. Advocates for effective recovery based services.
21. Maintains a working knowledge of current trends and developments in the mental health field.

Ability to be certified and complete DMH Certified Peer Support Specialist program
Demonstrate a minimum of six (6) months in self-directed recovery.
A current or former consumer or first degree family member of an individual who has received treatment for and self-identifies as a consumer or former mental health consumer.
Completion of required training in compliance with DMH standards.
Requires satisfactory completion of CPR prior to reporting to the work site.
Requires satisfactory completion of CPI within 30 days of employment.
Requires valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance.


Previous college educational experience/degree.
Previous paid and/or volunteer experience.
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelors considered; Peer Support Certification of ability to obtain
Ability to be certified and complete DMH Certified Peer Support Specialist program
