Service Delivery Expectations:

1. Provides direct one-on-one behavioral interventions to teach communication, social, academic, and daily living skills and reduce problematic behaviors in the clinic, home, community, and school settings.
2. Utilizes interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis.
3. Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the client of social interaction with the behavior technician.
4. Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills.
5. Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding.
6. Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations).
7. Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment.
8. Educates parents on reinforcement and early intervention information.
9. Educates all those involved about the role of ABA based interventions and the behavior technician and functions within boundaries of the behavior technician’s role in providing treatment
10. Conducts reassessment as appropriate.

Documentation and Quality Improvement:

11. Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording.
12. Prepare and take data on client’s behaviors, progression of skills, and functional communication. Graph data after collection.
13. Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation.
14. Completes required documentation to validate activities/services provided.
15. Completes and submits service logs per agency policy as assigned.
16. Assists with prior authorizations as requested.
17. Participates in interagency collaboration for the provision of client services.

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:

18. Attends and participates appropriately in treatment team/staff meetings.
19. Responds to clients needs in an appropriate and timely manner.
20. Demonstrates appropriate interactions with coworkers that promote a pleasant work environment.

Support Duties:

21. Completes additional job duties assigned by supervisor.
22. Maintains client confidentiality at all times.
23. Notifies an appropriate designated supervisor a minimum of two hours in advance of any program absence so that the supervisor can arrange program coverage if necessary.
24. Identifies and reports to supervisor in a timely manner any safety concern in the program environment.
25. Monitors the physical environment of the facility ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the environment at all times.
26. Immediately reports any unusual incidents, safety concerns, or changes in client behavior indicating that the client may be at risk of harm to self or others to supervisor or his/her designee.

Ability to obtain RBT certification within 90 days of hire.
Requires excellent interpersonal skills.
Requires satisfactory completion of CPR prior to reporting to the work site.
Requires satisfactory completion of behavior management system to respond to potential crisis situations
Requires valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
Requires completion of annual training.


Previous experience in a mental health setting strongly preferred.
Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder strongly preferred.
H.S. diploma required, bachelor’s degree in a behavioral
science preferred
Ability to obtain RBT certification within 90 days of hire.
